Switch Electric Vehicle Autonomous Project
The electric vehicle I will be implementing my project is designed and manufactured by a company called Switch Labs in Sebastopol, CA. This electric vehicle currently does not have any intelligence integrated into its system. I hope to establish the infrastructure necessary so the vehicle is ready for the final phase which is full autonomy. I will make the first attempt with Switch. I will start by understanding how Switch currently controls its, steering, braking, and acceleration. Once I fully understand their hardware I will add my hardware which I have full control of. The vehicle will be controlled wirelessly via Wi-Fi, once this is working seamlessly the project pridefully will be ready for the next step of full autonomy.
The purpose of the Autonomous Research Project Phase 1 is to implement the first stages of Autonomy on a Switch Electric Vehicle which includes controlling; steering,throttle, brake, lights, and power switch. Accomplishing this project will create the necessary infrastructure on a Switch Vehicle to be considered a level 2 autonomous vehicle. The entire system as it evolves, will be taught to kids around the country exposing them to the growing technology of Autonomous vehicles and future undergrad engineering students will need to append any technology needed to move up in levels. This will Prepare children and students to contribute to the growing technology.
